পোকা ও মাকড় দমন : প্রাথমিক অবস্থায় শুরুতে সীমিত সংখ্যক পোকা বা তার ডিমের গুচ্ছ দেখা যায়। নিয়মিত ছাদ বাগান পরীক্ষা করে দেখা মাত্র পোকা বা পোকার ডিমগুলো সংগ্রহ করে মেরে ফেলা ভালো। পাতার নিচে ভাগে পোকামাকড় অবস্থান করে। অনেক ক্ষেত্রে বয়স্ক পাতায় পোকামাকড় বেশি দিন আশ্রয় নেয়। এ জন্য পাতা হলুদ হওয়া মাত্র পাতার বোটা রেখে তা ছেঁটে দিতে হয়। অতি ঝাল ২-৩ গ্রাম মরিচের গুড়া এক লিটার পানিতে ভিজিয়ে রেখে পরের দিন ছেঁকে নিয়ে তাতে ২ গ্রাম ডিটারজেন্ট পাউডার ও এক চা চামচ পিয়াজের রস একত্রে মিশিয়ে ৮-১০ দিনের ব্যবধানে স্প্রে করলে জৈব পদ্ধতি অবলম্বনে গাছকে পোকার হাত থেকে নিরাপদ রাখা যায়। মাইট বা ক্ষুদ্র মাকড় খালি চোখে দেখা যায় না। লিচু, মরিচ, বেগুন, গাঁদা ফুলে মাইটের উপদ্রব বেশি দেখা যায়। মরিচের গুড়া পদ্ধতিতেও এ মাকড় দমন করা যায়। যেহেতু পোকামাকড়ের অবস্থান পাতার নিচে এ জন্য এ অংশ ভালোভাবে স্প্রে করে পোকা দমনে কার্যকর ব্যবস্থা নিতে হবে। ছাদ বাগানে কীটনাশক ব্যবহার না করাই ভালো। তবে যদি কীটনাশক ব্যবহার করতেই হয় তবে খেয়াল রাখতে হবে যেন তার টকসিসিটি কম সময় থাকে (ডেকামেথ্রিন দলীয় read more পারে তবে ইমিডাক্লোরোপ্রিড দলীয় নয়)।
